LIGIONER RUG SHOW

The rug show in connection with the
Woolley Fox Open House was held
in the Ligioner Town Hall.
All of the rugs were laid on the floor
instead of being hung.
Because it is hard for me to bend
over, without losing my balance,
I did not try to get names of the rugs
or the maker.
Enjoy!

This was truly a lovely rug.
The colors were very muted and
well chosen.
A very soft rug!

The name of the rug above is
Old Nutfield.
This is a very old pattern and a
lovely one when hooked with
paisley and muted shades.

The rug above is one of our favorites of
the show.  I believe that it was a bit
more finely hooked.
I loved this rug.  Its simplicity of design
and wonderful border really caught
my eye!
I have more pictures of this show.
I will show more in my next post.
Seems to me that there were about 50 pieces in this
show including mats, pillows and other
small pieces.
The surprising part is that
there was only 1 (ONE) finely hooked
rug in the whole show!
Are we losing the fine art of rug hooking
because we are in such a hurry
for everything these days?
This is worth giving a "thought" to.

Thought for the day:
A photograph is usually looked at - but seldom looked into.

Happy Mother's day to all.

Thanks for the nice rug show Doris. This is the first rug show I hear that they display the rugs on the floor.

I still hook fine cuts as I still like details for some reason although I appreciate the wide primitive cut for it simplicity.

Happy Mother's Day Doris and a special hug to you today.
We are having rain again today. It's been raining almost all week on and off.

Take care and give a squeeze to Eloise for me. JB

Beautiful rugs. There are obviously some very talented rug hookers in your area. Can't wait to see more. I hope you a nice Mother's Day, and that Eloise gave you a few extra kisses today ;)

Doris, dear friend,
Happy Mother's Day to you!
Thanks for the rug show!
When I went to Susan Feller's retreat last month, about 80% were hookers using a fine cut. Not shading, but just a fine cut. I so enjoy hooking with a wide cut and like the primitive look of it. I admire you fine hookers, but it's just not for me.
Pug hugs to you and Els :)

Thanks for sharing these photos with us, Doris! The favorite of yours is a favorite of mine too! Rug Hooking Magazine used to have that rug (in a different colorway) as their heading on their webpage. I hope to hook one of my own one day!

Hi Doris,
Oh, how I love Ligonier and Barb Carroll's lovely home! I was super jealous of you all :) - but so glad that you are well again & able to travel! Hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day! Thanks so much for the tour of such lovely rugs - I love both fine and primitive hooking equally. Love, Jill
